Biography

Zacharias Yeranis playing piano in black and white

Zacharias Yeranis is a classical pianist and composer from Cyprus. He began his musical studies at the age of six, studying both piano and violin, and developed a deep connection with music from an early age. Alongside his instrumental studies, he began exploring composition from the age of twelve, as well as improvisation, gradually shaping a personal musical language.

His artistic influences extend beyond the classical repertoire, drawing inspiration from the folkloric music of Greece and the expressive colours of Eastern musical traditions. These influences have contributed to his interest in melody, modal colours, musical storytelling, and spontaneous expression.

During his studies in Mathematics in the United Kingdom, Zacharias continued working on piano with Christodoulos Georgiades. After completing his degree, he decided to dedicate himself more deeply to classical piano performance and continued his musical education at the Athens Conservatoire, where he studied in the class of Maria Efstratiadi and earned his Piano Diploma with First Prize and Special Distinction.

His musical training combines rigorous classical discipline with a broad artistic and academic background. As a teacher, he focuses on developing a solid technical foundation, musical expression, creativity, and a deeper understanding of the repertoire.
